Electorial College Final Guesstimate

For political junkies here's a link to Wall Street Journal's revamped Electoral College calculator.

Here's some quick midwestern thoughts:

Indiana (my home state) is usually called early and has voted Republican since 1964. It is close there. If Obama wins there it will likely be a long night for Republicans.

Ohio will likely turn on Hamilton County which is the area around Cincinnati.

While Obama is going to win in Illinois he will likely not do very well outside of the Chicago area and East St. Louis.

State polls seem to have tightened somewhat over the weekend. My gut says not enought to help McCain.

Here's my final guesstimate.

Best Case Obama: Obama 375 McCain 163.

Best Case McCain: Obama 259 McCain 279. {McCain has to run the table & win all battleground states for this to happen}.

Most likely outcome by my count {just for fun}
Obama 291, McCain 247 (Virginia Colorado and Nevada decide it for Obama).

Remember like our motto here in Chicago. Vote early, vote often.
